I’m not trying to be preachy, I’m just trying to help. Metal drill bits, however, have a wider variety of point angles (90°, 120°, 135°, 140° and 145°). A drill bit with a 135° angle is better for drilling into harder materials such as masonry. We spend good money on our stuff, why chance damaging them by using cheap out of spec tools? A drill bit with a 118° angle cuts more aggressively and is best used for cutting into soft materials such as wood. The objective is to get the drill bit to bite into the remnant of the stud. Next, the tech puts the left-handed drill bit into the chuck and drills the hole in reverse. Then, a guide point is applied with a center punch. I’m not trying to be preachy, I’m just trying to help. To use a left-handed drill bit to extract a broken bolt or screw, the bolt must be ground as flat as possible. Moral of the story is use a quality bit that is not worn out, and use the correct torque value, and you should be good to go. I consequently bought a US made set of Allen keys from Ace Hardware, and found they fit the screws on the top rail MUCH better than the cheap Harbor Freight stuff. Particularly alarming was a stripped Allen screw on my PRI top rail. However, I found that the keys themselves were often ever so slightly undersized, and were marring some of the fasteners I was using them on. For example I have a set of Harbor Freight T-handle hex keys that I bought for gun projects, because I figured the small torque values used on most gun accessories wouldn’t require using my expensive tools at work. All the German cars I work on have torx and hex head fasteners, and I only use the expensive tools on them, because the cheap torx/hex bits always lead to damaged fasteners. The same goes for the cheap hex/Allen keys/bits. Keep in mind cheap torx bits that come from Harbor Freight, or the plastic tub at the hardware store aren’t made with precision, and will cause damage to the heads. While this unit is not for everyone, it will meet the needs of shooters that are into their heavy-caliber rifles to be sure.Assuming the torx bit you use is the correct size (and not worn out), there shouldn’t be a need to find replacements. I know this drill well, as I have had scopes almost come off a rifle due to recoil when shooting heavy rounds during one mile or more ultra-long-range shoots.
